Leadership Mindset Scholarship

Up to $10,000 to support emerging leaders
We support people who may not hold formal titles yet, but already think and act like leaders in the way they learn, serve, and pursue their future.

What we're looking for:

This scholarship is for people who lead through mindset, not position. We’re especially interested in applicants who can clearly articulate:

  • how they define leadership

  • the values that guide their decisions

  • a real story of initiative or impact (especially without authority)

  • how they grow from feedback, failure, or setbacks

  • the direction they’re headed and why it matters

Award details:

  • Annual Funding: Up to $20,000 awarded each year
    Award Amounts: $2,500, $5,000, or $10,000 (depending on need, impact, and available funds)
  • Use of funds: Tuition, training programs, certifications, books/materials, or other education/career development costs
  • How funds are paid: paid to the recipient with proof of enrollment/expense

Eligibility
Applicants must:

  • Be accepted into or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, trade program, or certification program
  • Demonstrate a leadership mindset through the application prompts
  • Be able to use the award within 12 months of receiving it

How to apply

Complete the application form to apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as you’re ready. We will notify you within 30 days of submission.

You’ll need:

  • Your written responses (6 questions)
  • Proof of enrollment/acceptance (upload upon selection)

How recipients are selected
Selections are based on the strength of your responses, not the number of titles you’ve held. We evaluate:

  • Clarity of leadership philosophy
  • Evidence of initiative and impact
  • Self-awareness and growth mindset
  • Character and values in decision-making
  • Future direction and how the scholarship removes a barrier

The Leadership Mindset Scholarship was created to invest in people who are becoming the kind of leaders others trust. We believe leadership isn’t a title...it’s a daily choice shaped by values, courage, and a commitment to growth. This scholarship is one way we support emerging leaders as they take their next step.

Application Questions
The questions below are designed to help us understand how you think about leadership, not just what you’ve done. Answer honestly, use real examples, and write in your natural voice. Suggested word counts are included as a guide.

  1. In your own words, what is leadership?
    (Recommended length: 250–350 words)
  2. Tell us one story where you influenced an outcome without having a title or formal authority.
    What was happening, what did you do, and what changed?
    (Recommended length: 350–550 words)
  3. Describe a moment your leadership fell short (mistake, misread, avoidance, or poor choice).
    What did you learn and what did you do differently afterward?
    (Recommended length: 450–650 words)
  4. Great leaders create belonging. Describe a time you helped someone feel included, respected, or safe.
    Be specific about what you said/did.
    (Recommended length: 350–500 words)
  5. What leadership skill are you actively working on right now, and what are you doing to improve it?
    (Recommended length: 250–350 words)
  6. If selected for this scholarship, what barrier will it remove and what will it make possible next?
    Be specific about the use of funds and the impact.
